Defy the Devil
Defy the Devil
Sarah Burke Cahalan
by making bread inedible.
Bake a stone that predates
evil. Bury it in ash,
never thinking itβs alive.
Itβs ancient, traced with veins
of silica and carbon.
Plant it to bless the field and
scare volcanoes.
Be useless.
Do useless things.
Never plan on it to rise.
Be pleasantly surprised.
