Seven Places

Seven Places
Aaron Lee
(i.m. James Pycha)
From the cradle of family where roots intertwine,
nature’s hymn thrums through leaves pushing their way
into free air. Before you know it, these uncounted
days of heat and dust have woven themselves
into a liturgy for the end of day. Guided by the moss,
traverse this wildness and find your way,
though colours and seasons change.
See, Pilgrim— a glimpse of home and its sunlit door!
Here at the table where a gracious feast is laid,
long-loved ones embrace, their faces familiar as scripture.
Here we are bound one to another, spirits kindled
by the flame of care, our love inscribed in the heart's soft gloss.
On that day you shall be free as this song written by rain,
a melody of the wandering one come home.
