More Than a Tourist

More Than a Tourist

More Than a Tourist

Daniel Klawitter

The world is a book, and those who do not travel
read only one page.
– Saint Augustine

There’s no knowing where it might lead.
After taking that first hesitant step
Down the path not taken, you will feed
On many foreign fruits. You will be swept
Away from your comfortable residence
And ripped up by the roots to be planted
In someone else’s geography. To be displaced,
Even temporarily, helps one to stay awake.
And don’t forget to ask: what difference
Do the differences make?
