The Story of Snow
The Story of Snow
Joshua Baylis
The winter whispers, weaves a tale in white:
To earth, entombed in darkened depths below,
Tilted from the origin of light,
The heav’ns above send forth the wondrous snow.
A lavish gift of vivid bright descends
Incarnate, waking heart with hope and awe;
Piercing gloom a gleam illumes, upends
And dazzles dark – the shadow grips no more.
The stillness then proclaims the poetry
As earth is bidden peace, hush, rest.
Dirt is cleansed, clothed in purity,
With heav’nly crystal jewels adorned and blessed.
The snow-wrought story wends its way, thaws out,
Its mournful, melting dirge does softly sing,
Watering the ground, to grow and sprout,
Anticipating resurrection spring.
From heav’n to earth the herald snowflakes fall,
The glad redemptive turn of winter’s thrall.
