Potomac & Shenandoah
Alison Propps
We sat in our grief.
Where two rivers meet.
Both bodies made one.
We sat and could only think of our son
Our bodies’ made one.
We sat at a table where shrimp never came.
1,000 times we said Sammy’s name
When finally they brought it to the table.
We tried to stop crying but we weren’t able.
