La Vie En

La Vie En

La Vie En

Kimberly Beck

We sit in a bakery, a Maker’s space.
It is the color of winter’s dawn
when at last, the sun,
humble and having no wick
breathes upon the snow.

Petals of light descend, drifting
above an Ebenezer of roses
above the lines of our listening hands
above a pâtissier’s shoulders; her secret:
an abundance of butter.

Here, and higher than here,
we are received
even as we learn to receive.

Kimberly Beck
Poet

Kim is a quiet, listening soul from Washington State. She can often be found at a local therapy ranch, caring for a very special herd of Norwegian Fjord Horses. She believes that horses are some of the best teachers when it comes to listening and writing poetry. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Solid Food Press and The Amethyst Review
