Litany of Matters Unsaid
Litany of Matters Unsaid
Mattea Gernentz
The light beloveds all things,
as in renders them dear. Your face, its contours,
embroider the pocket of my warmest coat
wherever I go–Shroud of Turin, recipe of
Lot’s wife. I am always adding portions,
expecting extra seats at the table. Don’t
I know yet this is famine season? Skeletons
of leaves offer no form. Light has no
appetite; it laughs when it gleams.
