Among Wildflowers
Among Wildflowers
Marjorie Maddox
“... only silence can express my prayer.”
- Saint Therese of Lisieux
The air
too still
for incense
and proclamations,
the un-wild
wildflowers
pray their Plain Jane
rosary of rain
across hushed fields
of nothing much,
or, in the shadow of woods
and whip-poor-wills,
shush whispers too loud
for the breeze,
even words a distraction
for praise. Yes,
Little Flower, your small petals
say everything.
