The Pond in Seasons
The Pond in Seasons
Philip C. Kolin
This pond across the road,
the liquefaction of sky and cloud.
Spring’s rebirthing frost into flowers,
garlands mirrored in petal soft water.
Summer’s frolicking in splashes and ripples
in memory of Eden before the Fall.
Autumn’s plumage perched on limbs overseeing
the source of their sustenance.
Then a cortege of winter flocks, ebbing
and flying, keening crows, frock-coated murres.
