The Trees Dance
The Trees Dance
Nick Metler
I went to the park to watch the trees dance
They shimmied and swayed
Mimicking the rhythm of the stream
Enraptured by the bird’s song
Drawn to their motion
I went to the park to watch the trees dance
As we used to
When your Spirit poured out like wine
Now all I feel is your silence
Overtaking my depths
I went to the park to watch the trees dance
To hear the chirps and pitter patter of water
Hoping that if I open my eyes
And engage my senses
I’ll see you there dancing too
