Eucharist

Eucharist
Joshua S. Fullman
Between you, here, I lie,
slipped in like sandstone amethyst
refracting in a tesseract,
my appetite for terror and delight,
painting all the worlds with our one shared brush.
This is my body
This substance arcs in space,
a prism of our essence where
the skins we wear dissolve in time
to hollow out the emptiness and grow
from clay the what that was not now in all.
given for you
There, in that secret place,
flesh glazing over both our earths
and crossing the celestial gap
by quanta, where imagination grasps
the edge and rolls out every crumb, I’ll kneel.
This is my blood
Where words spill out in veins
of anguish, springing waters shored
by orchids as gazelles dance time
to life, you wait, shrouded in willow glades
as firelight spasms press apart the dark
shared for you
and where an ancient tune
rings new in every votive hour.
In the arousal and the throes,
in the common mystery made known, there
we meet—and learn the verse of thankfulness.
through you
with you
in you
