Hagar in Beer-sheba, A Good Way Off

Hagar in Beer-sheba, A Good Way Off
Brad Zwiers
Can I be unseen?
Uncreated? Undone? Unwound? Unsung?
Unknit what you have strung together,
unmake me from who I am –
Lord, have mercy and look away.
Unsay that first word you spoke
and unwind my days: a new beginning,
one that waits to begin at all,
and uncalled, rests
like a thought before it becomes a word.
