De Toto et Parte

De Toto et Parte
C. Marshall Bishop
Written in response to Owen Barfield’s unpublished philosophical treatise entitled ‘De Toto et Parte,’ which was found in a notebook at the Bodleian Library containing pencil comments by C.S. Lewis.
Rivers flow into one another
And ultimately into the sea.
And ultimately even the sea
Waters the river spring.
So You stand before and behind me
In perfect actuality.
