The Banquet
The Banquet
Wendy Kieffer
We found the banquet prepared for our eyes
And with open ears, we stood and listened
For Beauty calling across years and miles.
She sang, she cried, she danced in all her styles;
And when the rooms seemed to hum and glisten,
We found the banquet prepared for our eyes.
The masters carried us into the skies
On the strokes from hands that bled precision
For Beauty calling across years and miles.
The compositions held their sacred cries,
As if death created no partition;
We found the banquet prepared for our eyes.
Filled with wonder, our praise began to rise,
As glory to the Maker was given
For Beauty calling across years and miles.
Such vision is not grounded where it lies,
But steals away inside hearts commissioned.
We found the banquet prepared for our eyes,
For Beauty calling across years and miles.
