Split
Split
Noah M. Fischbach
You remember Paradise–
not place, but time–
cradled within comforting
void of water and Milky Way as
the unlit sky prophesied to
preemie birth.
Before the split you
knew me, your infant fingers
reaching in praise towards the
Heaven
you knew lay deeper, longer, wider.
So I whispered to you the secrets
of creation
across the twilight sky, through buzzing
cicadas and rippling, sun-soaked leaves,
that you would know the place
prepared for you. The grand banquet hall
awaits your seat at the table
among the saints, where even fresh
linens and lavender perfume cannot
do my words justice.
You know the importance of
the last days, of sacred skin
and catskill glories, creation motioning
that as you remember Paradise,
Paradise remembers you.
