Jacob Lee

I am mute, I am manifesto, word and ammunition.
A dormant seed, losing count of seasons.

Waiting for the divine to speak
in a way that might make sense to me.

Learning to paint in monochrome
and listen for the silence in the clamour.

I am salt, I am ocean, dust and mountain.
Son of earth, laid bare in cardinal city.

Seeing how the wind blows differently
through the wooden branches, through these iron trunks—

Plunging through the shells of blossoms
gathered like snow at the foot of the high rises.

Whitman said I am large, containing multitudes
I am infinitesimal, the cluster on the edge of being—

waiting and seeing,
waiting and seeing.
