The Train Were Otherwise Too Full

Jon Delmas Wood

A lady down the aisle veiled
In vinyl, glass, and steel,
And other people, by her ankles
Manifest, if only to the hem.
The train were otherwise too full.

A watch on someone’s wrist
Discloses minute stars
On panels over windowed fields
Whose rapid monochrome
Will lead you to suppose
That they contain more shades.
But green will adumbrate the rest.

note: "minute" in line 7 must be pronounced in
accord with the word meaning infinitesimal
