Scared to Pause
Scared to Pause
Brittany R. Johnson
Summer heat got her bouncing in a dream land,
crashing into waves that don’t even wet her...
‘cause she doesn’t feel ‘em
Adrenaline so high, she can’t find the time
to just breathe
And slowing down scares her
‘cause that would mean
she’d realize just how much the heat suffocates her
just how much she needs a balm to cool her spirits
just how much her walk with the Holy Spirit trips her
‘cause she’s not sure of where she’s headed
It’s a partnership, so clingy but distant
Got to stay ashore
so clingy but distant
