Jing Min Tan

when i gave up my sin
did you take out the laundry
and call it finished? did you
iron rough edges out and
mend my fraying excuses,
cross-stitch personal failure
into my full armour? i tell you,
i have five loans, owe two favours.
you sat on your haunches flipping
chapati onto a flat stove. there is
some flour left, you say. enough
yeast to rise again.
