Let your going
forward take you through, drop
initial coverings,
all you cannot
carry; the bird that’s flown
seeks flying
arriving new
each moment, in a space
untested, open
to its flight
and feasting,
its taking on its tiny body—night,
its resting
on a branch it sought, prepared,
stretched limbs that bear it up
the seemly Lord, Lode-
Star, the Seasons’
flowering, sweet
nectar in a cup.
