Bronze Age
Bronze Age
Matthew D. Blanton
With disdain he derides
those of us who still follow
a "bronze age god"
With his dirt,
and smoke,
and blood
But to break free from the
tyranny of the evanescent
Is rest.
And ancient texts in ancient tongues
are living roots through time and space
To hushed songs of the captive masses on Babylonian shores
and Fire licking up water-logged altars and wide-eyed men
Under the gliding shadow of the Leviathan
in frigid, pre-historic waters
