What Once Was Your Enemy

What Once Was Your Enemy

Taylor Henry

The vacant lot next door has become
A field of lions blooming:
Quick, put them down before
They devour all in sight!

Why is control so important?

It’s really all a big misunderstanding:

We become jealous of the wildflower’s
Free spirit, all because we fall
For the comfort of manicured homes.

We are afraid of losing the upper hand.

Retell the story of your land.
Can you catch the golden-mane creatures
And celebrate their enthusiasm in your kitchen?

Listen to the conversations
They are having with your children.

Later on, you’ll get to bless
Their future with the wind,
Filling the fields with purring.

What once was your enemy
Will become your greatest joy.
