Pouring Out Endlessly
Pouring Out Endlessly
Teddy Mackay
The room is filled in its entirety
with what one might call containers
or vessels or, perhaps, simply
spaces: it is filled with wide and
shallow bowls, elegantly painted
vases, long pitchers and ceramic
mugs, small plates, teaspoons and
great ceremonial jugs, comfortably
shaped goblets, clean blown glass,
strong carafes and, as always, my hands
cupped and waiting. And, all of these to
endure, empty and specifically placed,
patient as He carefully steps between
each entity, pouring out endlessly,
filling them all to the brim and flooding
them with their single, sanctified purpose:
to be filled and full and overflowing with
His love.
