Butterfly Cathedral
Butterfly Cathedral
Jono Subers
I swore it with my bones
In a butterfly cathedral
A blossom purchased with the blood of thrones
An oath made out to Zion
The coming of a kingdom
Cut the stem and wear me like a rose
Despite my best intentions
I sold Him down the river
My heart, a fickle liar cut from stone
I lay naked before You
Still dripping from the water
I wonder, did you see me when you chose?
A curtain set the table
I'm jilted as a lover
But by His grace I'm never on my own
I can hear the bells ring
He's headed home for supper
At my wake be wearing wedding clothes
