Fear

Fear

Here the earth is paper thin,
And wind is spirit once again,
Where fear has come to break belief
that bread is less than manna.

Here we ask for poetry,
Any piece of symmetry;
Even our most ancient art
Feels young and still a part
Of this inherited mortality. 

Where stones are heavy
But lighter still than prayer,
We see past this fragility
And find some solace there.
