When I consider what it means to be made in the image of God, I come back to one of the most ubiquitous metaphors used for God: that of a Father and His children. Instinctively, a child observes and imitates the ways of the father. As we Christians think of divine imitation, it can be natural to focus in on attributes such as the fruit of the Spirit, and rightly so; but our Father is also a creator, and to create is to espouse the act of creating itselfโ€”to declare it good and worthy of doing ourselves. As Ekstasis demonstrates both in its content and community, art can be worship.
